As described above, the NPSS IDE is a new tool developed by the NPSS Consortium. It was released publicly in 2020. The purpose of the NPSS IDE is to make the NPSS software more accessible to new and casual users. However, advanced users will also find the tool useful, because it eases the process of developing new models and investigating the structure of existing unfamiliar models.

This TxDOT-customized version of PGSuper is versatile, user friendly, Windows-based software for the design, analysis, and load rating of multi-span precast-prestressed concrete bridge beams/girders in accordance with the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications (thru the 9th Edition, 2020) and by TxDOT design policies and guidelines. Properties of TxDOT standard I-girders (TxGirders), U beams, slab beams, decked slab beams, box beams, and X-beams and TxDOT specific design criteria are included in templates and libraries published by TxDOT on a server accessible via the Internet. Thus, the software is capable of periodically updating the installed templates and libraries with the most current versions published by TxDOT. Though these templates and libraries are subject to change, the user may save PGSuper project data with its associated templates, libraries and settings in a .pgs file which can subsequently be opened by PGSuper preserving the templates, libraries, settings and design data of the bridges as originally designed.

A systematic review of some approaches used for fatigue analysis is presented by E. Jarfall in [6] . In reference [7] , the same author defines a stress severity factor concept, and shows that both the far field and bearing contact loads have a significant influence on the fatigue strength of a shear joint. Methods and test data for shear and tension joints have been developed by many major aircraft manufacturers and/or research organizations. Some are published in the technical literature [8] - [13] . In all these methods, a clear distinction is made between hole filling rivets and threaded fasteners.

For each fastener, four contact bodies were defined (Body_Pin1_Head, Body_Pin1_Thread, Body_Nut1_Head, Body_Nut1_Thread, etc.) and one contact body for each of the plates. Both models contained 21 contact zones defined for the initial set-up and setting in position, and 41 contact zones for the loading stage. With the exception of the contacts between the threads of fasteners and collars (glued), the friction was not included. This is because for conservatism, the friction is neglected in the structural analysis of aircraft structures. For the same reason the data in this paper does not include the initial pretension. Although the effects of pretension are significant for the crack initiation and growth, the aim of this paper is to address and quantify the effects of crack length on the forces (and stresses) used in popular current crack growth analysis programs. 350c69d7ab
